Last week, the SSM Police hit the ice for the 13th Annual Donald Doucet Youth Centre Charity Hockey Tournament! The women’s and men’s teams battled hard, with the men’s team earning a 5-4 shootout win in the Open Division final!🏒 A huge thank you to all the players, organizers and supporters who made this event possible. Your efforts helped raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste Marie while honouring Don and his love of hockey.

I wrote about how the place helped automobile manufacturers evaluate new vehicle designs under the worst possible conditions. March 13 was a very nice day so I went on a photo tour to Saw Pit Bay and Groscap to see ice formations before they disappeared. Here are some of the photos from that day. The only ice cave I ventured into was Groscap. Saw Pit Bay conditions were not suitable for venturing too close to the open water.

The Soo Finnish Nordic Ski team is at the Cross Country Ski National Championships in Canmore, Alberta and they are putting Sault Ste. Marie on the map! Coached by Declan MacDougall, athletes Kate De Beer Taylor Nieson, Myka Broad and Jasper Tchir are working hard out in the mountains. Kate and Jasper both finished first in the qualifiers for their year of birth in the classic sprints, in a field of 93 and 123 skiers respectively. Kate went on
