So where does everyone get their wood locally? I know my favourite sources for plywoods; but hardwood and softwoods like oak, ash, maple, birch, walnut, pine, hemlock, and cedar can all be sourced from local producers. What are our favourite sources?

Hemlock from Belleau Lumber or Thayer Lumber.

Yes, I have used both places. Thayer used to have some exotic woods as well. Some of the Mennonite farms along the highway also sell some rough cut hemlock, cedar, and pine at a pretty good price.

Thayer is great, knowledgeable, friendly. Nothing beats local small business.

Midway lumber in Thessalon as well! I picked up a bunch of 3/4" knotty pine T&G last year for an amazing price.
