While everyone has been shooting contrast pics, actually using tonal contrast, I have been playing with a different type. That is focal contrast. IE keeping the main object in sharp focus and blurring the rest of the frame. This is done placing a foreground object in sharp focus, opening up your lens to its widest aperture and let the lens do its magic, blurring our the extraneous background. Here are a couple of some flowers in our yard ... Variations on a similar subject ... the contrast between sharp detail and colour and a blurred background
