OLD SCHOOL SPEED  >>>>>>>> GINO LEPORE'S fascination with speed and high performance cars began when he was a youngster in the mid sixties. Those years high performance cars such as the Corvette were advertised on a regular basis on television during family shows. Gino knew then that someday he would own one. So once the 1972 Corvette was introduced Gino would order one to his liking . Because Gino was an avid Drag Racer at the 5th line Drag Strip in Sault Ste. Marie in the late 60s and early 70s he would order one with high horsepower and with the 454 big block engine. The Corvette was also ordered without a radio (radio delete).  If the options available did not produce horsepower, they were not ordered. This car was definitely ordered with drag racing in mind.  Even though he did not compete that year, he worked the tower on grudge nights (every Wed), though he occasionally he would sneak in a few runs down the 1/4 mile strip - the temptations were too great to resist. Stay tuned for more OLD SCHOOL SPEED  features that will highlight local racers and their cars. Shown in pics in front of Korah Collegiate is Gino alongside his 72 Elkhart Green Corvette  and Alan Greco next to his Black Magic Mustang.
