Product review: Outlier pedals
I recently came across this new pedal design from https://www.outliermtb.com/ and they immediately caught my eye. I converted to flat pedals for most of my riding several years ago after taking a MTB coaching clinic. The teacher said that you become a better mountain biker when you learn to “grab” the pedals by using horizontal forces for doing things like bunny hopping. This is why BMX and Freestyle riders prefer them. Flats also give you unlimited footwear options.
You can anlso easily take your foot off and on in tricky situation.

This pedal takes flats to another level. The axis is offset so the pedal only needs spikes on one side and whenever you take your foot off the pedal remains horizontal. The Outlier comes with bigger spikes than I’m used to and the grip is the best I have ever tried. The wide hole eliminates any snow or mud buildup on the pedal for a perfect grip every time. You will need to lower your seat 1 cm to compensate for the offset.

I’m truly impressed with these and intend to get another set soon. Bonus points for supporting a Canadian company.
