The ‘Fresh Eyes 2025’ community creative project team are pleased to announce that Sault Ste Marie’s City Meat Market is its featured ‘Fresh Eyes’ corporate sponsor for the upcoming May 2025 events.
Fresh Eyes organizing committee member Bryan Davies notes that the Market is one of the Sault’s oldest commercial enterprises (founded in 1910), with a Queen Street East location that “has seen the entire Sault history unfold right in front of it. We are thrilled that a business with such a great local tradition has embraced Fresh Eyes and a reimagined Sault Ste Marie.”
City Meat Market co-owner Ernesto Di Berardino expressed his delight at having the company making a strong Fresh Eyes contribution. “We believe in the Sault, our downtown city core, and what our amazing community can do when we come together. We decided that becoming part of this exciting Fresh Eyes initiative aligned exactly with where my cousin and co-owner Anthony Celli and I are taking our Market in the years ahead.”
Fresh Eyes is a Canadian community creative project first – no city has been captured this way. For five days (May 7 through 11, 2025), photographers will ‘shoot the Sault’ from individual perspectives. The photographers will upload their work. Various web locations and the Downtown Plaza ‘big screen’ will allow the public to see the project unfold. Accomplished writers will then create stories that build on these unique Sault images. A Fresh Eyes publication will be available in early August 2025.
The Fresh Eyes team welcomes anyone to participate or support this project by donation. Please contact Bryan Davies (bryan@tagonapress.com) for more information.
